In addition to 77 percent of the market share attributed to Chromium, no less than 5.18 percent of devices still rely on IE for browsing. Overall, more than 77 percent of desktop computers have Chromium-engine based browsers installed (this doesn't take into account the market share of Chromiums like Vivaldi, which NetMarketShare hasn't included in the new data). While both Chrome and Edge continue to gain market share, these numbers show that the Chromium engine is the first choice for a significant number of PC users (whether Windows, Linux or macOS). Mozilla Firefox is still considered to be the mainstream choice outside of Chromium, currently in third place with a 7.25 percent market share. The second place is Microsoft Edge, also based on the Chromium engine, which took a solid second place with 7.76 percent market share. Last month, Google Chrome ran on no less than 69.18 percent of all PCs, according to NetMarketShare. It's no surprise that Google Chrome is the number one browser on both desktop and mobile, but a new set of data highlights the Chromium engine's overall dominance on the PC.
